If you are a consultant you probably already know the power of the LinkedIn platform and you probably understand that LinkedIn is a consultant’s most powerful tool online today. Here is a model on how to use LinkedIn for maximum benefit.
1.) First, build influence.
Create an influential baseline for yourself or for your organization. Your fully optimized profile and everything you do on LinkedIn should accomplish three things; represent you as trustworthy, credible, and a low-risk option to work with.
2.) Second, research and understand how your market uses LinkedIn.
Find your customers and analyze their profiles. What do they do on LinkedIn? Do they participate in groups? Which groups? Are they engaged at all on LinkedIn? These are questions you need answers to before you start using LinkedIn as a lead generation tool for your business. Advance Search on LinkedIn is what you need to master this process. Advanced Search allows you to create search criteria and save results that you can use as the baseline for who it is that you are looking to connect with.
3.) Third, determine what the best strategies are for connecting or communicating with your market.
There are five methods for communicating on LinkedIn
- By invitation
- By introductions
- By using In-mails
- Commenting on Groups
- By sharing a Group with another person that you can communicate through.
Use any and all of those methods to reach out to your market and start generating interest for yourself and for your services.
Now that you’ve gone through the foundation, outlined where your market hangs out, identified your market list, identified how to communicate to your market, it is time to create a strategic plan. The strategic plan is a long term strategy that you can use to scale and systematize so you can generate leads on a consistent basis.
