How to Create a Video within Your LinkedIn Profile

How to Create a Video within Your LinkedIn Profile

Posted on 28. Apr, 2009 by nate in News

LinkedIn has not been very aggressive in allowing users to get video on their Profiles. Because of a recent application upgrade, you can now have video streamed right on your Profile page without getting redirected. Check out this short 2 minute explaination of how to get video on your profile.

Nate - Thanks for the great info. Do you know what file format it accepts (Slideshow doesn’t specify)?

Thanks,
Steve

Steve, it’s only through Youtube… so you upload the video to youtube, and copy the url. When you upload a powerpoint, Slideshare will give you the option to insert the video link.

Best,

Nate

Where is the YouTube link placed? Before uploading or after? Where?

Thanks!
Rob

Rob… after you upload the power point, you can open the powerpoint and on the right will be an option to insert the video link anywhere you want up to 5 times 5 different videos anywhere in your presentation.

Best,

Nate

I don’t see an “option to insert the video link anywhere you want up to 5 times 5 different videos anywhere in your presentation.” Do I need to turn on a feature or something?

Thanks for the tip Nate, Its just another indication that you should take time to make intro video for you & your business. Kind of the do it once and share it everywhere ie also on your FB, blogs and other social accounts where a picture can say a 1000 words with less effort to the audience to hear your message & build a relationship.

Nate: you posted the video suggestion a while back. Well, I just spotted it today and it rocks. Although I know this application should be a boom to my business and personal growth, I just don’t know (or am frightened of?) how to implement it.
At any rate, thank you very much.

Hi Nate

This is great stuff, except I thought I’d cracked by setting up a Slideshare.net account , uploaded the presentation (just one slide) then emebed my You Tube video and hit publish, only for it not to appear on my LinkedIn profile.
Any idea where i went wrong?

Many thanks

Steve

Steve,

You may want to check your slideshare settings within linkedin to see if you have it on the single or three slides visible on your profile. You need to have the single for the video to show up.

You also need to authorize slideshare to post it on your profile in these settings.

Hope this helps, let me know.

Best,

Nate

Great post…Appreciate you and your simple approach. I’m inspired to get my videos on now.

Having been a coach for 25+ years, I can validate, the simplier the better…don’t complicate it and better to be brief. Life is simple, we complicate it. Good job!

If I can be of assistance back to you, let me know ~

That’s awesome!!!

I didn’t know you could add videos to your linkedin profile and I haven’t seen any with a video but I can see how a video could set you apart and add that little bit extra.

Excellent explanation Nate.

Great article and Great Blog. My son, who is studying to be a film director, made a video for a former NFL player turned sports trainer. utilizing your tips, I helped them add it to Antonio Gibson’s Profile. I think it adds a real nice professional touch to his profile. Thanks for the Tips!

Here is his profile: http://www.linkedin.com/in/antoniogibson23

Our advocate group has a 23 min. video that we would like to make available. YouTube has a 10 min. limit. Any alternatives or thoughts?
