One trend that’s really hot right now is optimizing your profile around a particular keyword you want to get found by. For example, if you’re a tax consultant, you’d want to optimize your profile so that when people search for “tax consultant,” your profile is first – or at least on the first page. In this video below, Nate walks you through exactly how to use LinkedIn keyword optimization to accomplish this.

My account type is “Basic”
Do I have to have a “Business account to implement your strategy?
Thanks……great instruction!
nope, you are good to go with a basic account @Craig
Interesting insights. Have tried optimising my profile and I can see the results.
I like what you guys are up also. Such clever work and reporting! Keep up the excellent works guys I’ve incorporated you guys to my blogroll. I think it’ll improve the value of my website
Good tutorial. ¿What is the difference between sorting by keyword and sorting by relevance?. I get a better possition when sorting by relevance than when sorting by keyword.
@Pablo you need to rank for Keywords to show up on all search results. Relevance sorting includes your closest network connections first.

Its such as you learn my thoughts! You appear to know a lot approximately this, like you wrote the guide in it or something. I believe that you simply could do with a few p.c. to power the message house a little bit, but instead of that, this is excellent blog. A great read. I’ll definitely be back.

Good video, great value! thanks for this.
however the crucial question is if this increase in appearances (in searches) and views translates into more job offers through headhunters. is there such a correlation?
I get job requests a couple times a week after doing this… that’s all I can say about the correlation for now.
thanks for idea…
Hi nate,
it is really fantastic post about how to optimize a linkedin account through the best keywords combination. even though there are lot of articles and post are available on the net but it something different to the others.
Nate .. is it possible to get the mail ids of linkedin users so that we can send many request at a time for more traffic or conversations.?
Thanks Mark… to get the mail IDs of LinkedIn users is not easy. I won’t say it’s impossible, but it does break the terms of LinkedIn’s Services Agreement.
I got this to work after a few minutes of profile editing. Although yet to see increased traffic from recruiters I plan to continue to refine my profile keywords and track increases. Thanks Nate.
I noticed that even when my filter settings on the left hand side are “all members ” etc. my results with 900,000 results ends up putting people in my network first. I does rank. but people in my network (or in 1-2 levels away) are the ones that come up….
You genuinely make it appear so straightforward along with your presentation but I discover this matter to be actually something that I feel I would never comprehend. It seems too complex and incredibly broad for me. I’m searching forward for your next post, I will try to get the hang of it! xrumer
How do Linkedin groups apply SEO techniques differently?
Inbound Marketing Has a #6 Google Page Rank on their Linkedin Group Page. Search Engine Land has a 0 Google page rank in Linkedin groups.
Some Linkedin Groups even have #7 page rank. How did they apply SEO techniques differently?
Search Engine Land Linkedin Group Page:

Although the 3 links on our Linkedin profile are 302 redirects with no linkjuice, are there any backlink benefits from being the owner of certain Linkedin groups, or by posting blogs or webpages in certain Linkedin groups?

Hi Nate, I used your strategy to optimize for several keyword phrases on my wife’s LI page. It has worked like a charm and all done very quickly! But just wondering if I’m going overboard a bit and trying to optimize too many keywords using this approach. Could you take a look at it and let me know what you think? Her name is in the website domain name of my email address.
Amazing…jumped to first page within minutes covering my major areas of strengths and talent.
Thank you so much for this incredible resource!
This all sounds great, however how many people on LinkedIn are choosing keyword as the wort filter – most would surely just use the relevance (default ) option at which point it seems connections are more relevant than keywords? Another thing I have noticed is that even with the quote marks, a phrase that has 2 words in it – say digital marketing – will still bring up the results for marketing at the top and not the long tail result. I would love to know a bit more about optimising LinkedIn in relation to these two points.
This was a great video. I’ve been working on my LinkedIn profile quite a bit but wasn’t getting as much action as I thought I should. I watched Nate’s video and did exactly what he recommended. Well, I gotta say, it worked! I am pushing “creative director” as my keyword phrase of choice and after making some adjustments, I am ranking as number 12. Not bad. We’ll see what happens from here. Thanks, Nate, great job.
Category: Tax Manager, Cincinnati Area in Ohio
I originally found myself at #315 out of 325 profiles, I reviewed my profile and made a few changes, and moved to #40 at the bottom of page 4.
I am currently between jobs so I do not have a current position, but if I did, I would move to #1 (added one just to see if I moved up) darn!!!
Still working to tell the truth and move up the list
Thanks
JPM
Nate, great job. Simply put, the techniques work. Its important to know that the pre requisite is a defined branding plan with the a list of ‘keywords’ to be used. I look forward to monitoring the metrics going forward and tweaking as needed. Thanks again.
Hi Nate – Thanks for this info, really interesting. I just wondered: Do keywords that former colleagues have used in their LinkedIn recommendations count in the keyword search engine? Also, is there a greater search weight placed on keywords in certain areas of the LinkedIn profile, for example the summary versus the headline, or the current job title with keyword versus the same keyword in a job title from 10 years ago?
Thanks again.
Hi Nate, I would like to know what the rule of search results rank by keyword?
Thanks for the video Nate, however I was wondering how to rank highly in competitive search terms such as “social media” or “marketing” without spamming my profile with these keywords like most people have done on their profiles. The people on the first 5 or so pages have literally spammed their profile with these keywords almost 100 times for each word.
Hey Cee… it’s unfortunate, but at this time, there is not an easy way to do this without destroying your profile. there was an app that made this possible but that has been removed as far as I know with the new profile updates. stay tuned.

thanks Nate for this informative clip, it truly was an eyeopener and put together the scrabble in my mind. It’s a must share item.
I love the article…but is this still relevant? I think the only way to get listed now is spamming key words
